Nothing is more satisfying that that first sip of a delicious summer cocktail. You’re probably sitting pool or lake side and you’ve spent the day relaxing and enjoying yourself. Clearly, you’ve earned this drink.
If it’s August, a.k.a peak peach season, I highly recommend you include peaches in your cocktails. They’re perfectly ripe and sweet this time of year in Ontario and add a refreshing sweetness to any drink. Peach combines beautifully with bourbon and gives this old fashioned a refreshing new twist.
Just Peachy Old Fashioned
adapted from www.cocktailia.com
2 oz bourbon
2 dashes peach bitters
a sugar cube
thinly sliced peaches – about 5 slices
1. Place your sugar cube and bitters in the bottom of an Old Fashioned glass. Muddle.
2. Add 3 peach slices and muddle a little more to release some of the juice from the peaches
3. Pour in the bourbon and fill the glass with ice. Stir to mix
4. Garnish with 2 remaining peach slices and sip away!
For an extra layer of flavour, you could even try grilling the peaches to infuse a smoky flavour into your cocktail.
